Cub Leader

Alan Henderson (Akela)

Our Cub Scout Pack has 25 boys and girls aged between 8–11 years of age. The group is divided into Sixes led by a Sixer and helped by a Seconder. The pack is led by three volunteer leaders who are trained in offering themed programs based around stories from the Jungle Book, pirates and explorers to name a few.We teach basic bush craft and how to react to emergencies.

Your child will be introduced to us by our Cub Scout names, based on the Jungle Book Story.

We meet on a Monday night from 5.30-7pm unless otherwise notified.

Cubs love putting badges on their uniforms.  Throughout the year the pack will all be working towards their Boomerang Award Scheme. We plan activities which include science and discovery, safety in the home & bush, tests of physical skills, handcrafts and the traditional scouting skills of knotting, mapping, using a compass, and hiking. Cubs are also given the opportunity to work towards achievement badges if they wish.

We offer a six week introduction to cubs so that your child can get the feel of the group – they will not be required to wear uniform at this time. If they enjoy the adventures offered by the group they will be invested into the Cub Scout Pack after the six week trial period. When they are ready to be invested, you will be required to purchase a cub shirt and a copy of the Cub Scout Record Book which both can be purchased from Snowgum.  They will be required to pay an annual membership fee.

In order that we are able to safely supervise your child in their cubbing experience, it is essential that we have your family contact details and health forms; these will need to be completed and returned to a leader as soon as possible.

We plan our program to include many varied activities, which include outings and camps. On occasions for safety reason we will require extra adult supervision; we ask that parents help out at least once a term, more if able. If you have any particular skills or interests that you may be able to offer please let a leader know. We have a roster that will be sent out via email, as well as regular updates i.e. program changes (we occasionally need to reschedule due to weather.)

We look forward to getting to know your child and your family.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
