Safety lanes for Bonnet Hill
Safety lanes work now under way. Stage 1 of the construction of Safety Lanes over Bonnet Hill began on Monday Nov 23, 2015. Shoulder widening will be carried out in four separate sections of the Channel Highway between Proctors Road and Taroona and will continue until March. Mobile trailers notify the public of the likely delays.
This is an appeal to all users of the Channel Highway please to be patient while the work is being undertaken! Planning for Stage 2 begins in the New Year and will be carried out in the construction 'season' late in 2016.

Alum Cliffs Track below Tyndall and Harpers Road, Bonnet Hill
Following an invitation from BHCA members to discuss the fuel load issue, on Saturday 21 March 2014 the Mayor of Kingborough, Steve Wass and Councillors Dean Winter and Mike Percey inspected the area along the Alum Cliffs between the track and the residential properties on Tyndall and Harpers Road.
With councillors currently in discussions about the forthcoming Council Budget, Bonnet Hill Community Association members were appreciative of the three Kingborough councillors taking the time to examine the situation for themselves. Residents Ray Westwood and Ray Lefroy joined the councillors at different points on the track and personally showed them the areas of concern. In November 2015 Tasmanian Fire Service Personnel attended a meeting with BHCA members on site and a burn off was done before Christmas 2015.

Community BBQ: Sunday Feb 15 2015
The community BBQ on Sunday 15 February 2015 on Bonnet Hill was a tremendous success. Over 300 people attended to send a clear message to the State Government that the construction of uphill safety lanes on the Channel Highway over Bonnet Hill to Taroona needs to be funded urgently in the forthcoming May budget. Many thanks to everyone for your support.
