Bonnet Hill Bushfire Plan

News Sun 22 Nov 2015 - Section 1 of planned Hazard reduction burn completed

Many thanks to the six volunteers of the Kingston Fire Brigade who successfully completed the first section of the proposed fire hazard reduction in Harpers/Tyndall Road area. Thanks also to the Kingborough Council for arranging this work to be carried out on their reserve.

Under the direction of Dave Jacobs, the volunteers were able to create a buffer between the fences of the residences bordering the Alum Cliffs Reserve and the track in this area.  The volunteers recognised the potential threat from any fire coming up from the beach and they were pleased to be able to reduce the hazard under controlled conditions.

David indicated that the volunteers will now work their way towards Tyndall Road but the rest of the fire reduction work may need to be competed with two more burns to be undertaken at different times in coming weeks.

Second planned burn completed Sunday 30 November 2015
